The project
The Happiness Machine is an installation were the spectators enter into two stages.
The first one is where they will find a list of questions to think about the meaning of happiness as a human being. This list, will be the trigger to help inner reflexion in order to write each owns, personal thoughts and ideas about happiness that will be written down in a piece of paper together with a draw of a happy face in a yellow sticker.
The second stage will consist of placing the “happiness piece of paper” with the happy face in a wall where all the other ideas can be seen.
At the end they will find an explanation that happiness is made out of sharing our life and thoughts with others. That is the real transformation and why the machine works.
The motivation behind the idea
I wanted to reflect on the idea of happiness. These were just a few questions to spark thought and create a moment of reflection.
With this work, I aimed to bring about a deep moment of sharing.
-
What is happiness?
-
What makes a happy person?
-
What do we do to make others happy?
-
How often I consider myself happy?
-
Could happiness contain darkness and still be worth?
-
Where is happiness? Inside of things? In relationships? In what I did? Experiences? In the thing that I lost?
-
Am I afraid to feel the calm and peace from the other’s happiness?
-
What I need to be happy?
-
Am I a person who promote happiness in my daily routine in my surroundings or am I an obstruction of it?
-
Where is hidden the power of happiness?
